A little bit of gratitude
Well, after months of tweaking – and a little bit of swearing – my new website is finally up and running.
While I built the site myself, there are many people I need to thank for their time, input, advice, criticism, support.
Firstly, I need to thank my family, who probably think the laptop is part of my anatomy by now. Not only did my husband – a winemaker – keep me supplied with good red throughout the duration, he also did his fair share of the cooking and the cleaning.
To my friends who provided valuable input as the site was being developed – you know who you are – not only did you help me with this project, but your love and support over umpteen years of ups and downs has been invaluable. I am so lucky to have such good people around me to bounce ideas off and to tell me straight when I have my head up my arse.
Thanks to Peter and his team at Direct Sites Online. Peter has been a long-term client of mine and his company is also my web host. When things went awry late last week as the site was being transferred, Peter called in the big guns – fixing it over the weekend no less.
The awesome, kickass Karen from Smile.Play.Love, who not only took photos of me that I wasn’t embarrassed to share, she also gave me the idea to use vintage photos and quotes AND she designed the slider images on the landing page. Most of this while on an overseas holiday with her little family. Words cannot express how thankful I am to her.
To Louisa, from Notable Imprint, thanks for tweaking my logo to match the colour palette, and for designing business cards, stationary and an email signature to match. Your eye for colour and design has given Black Coffee Communication the personality it needed.
To the fantastic micro-business owners on the Flying Solo forums, thank you so much for your shared wisdom and advice. The depth of talent, and the wealth of experience, on the forum is humbling. I’m sure the founders know what a valuable resource they have for all of us who are going it alone.
And finally, thanks to the wonderful and varied businesses who have willingly agreed to become professional partners in order to offer the best possible outcome for my clients. These are still under wraps right now, but all will be revealed soon, I promise.
So, a new website, and a new direction. I hope you will join me for the ride. It is unlikely to be pretty, but I’m sure we will have lots of fun!
Till next time
Nicole
